On May 25, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., a panel of nationally recognized cannabis experts will be at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas to discuss the need for reforms of medical marijuana research, as well as its increased use as treatment for a number of diseases and conditions.

Sponsored by The Grove, this event will feature nationally recognized researchers, legislators and advocates who will speak to the opportunities that become possible when the medical community is able to explore cannabis in the same manner as other pharmaceuticals.

The panel of experts include:

Sue Sisley, MD is a member of the Nevada State Independent Laboratory Advisory Committee and is leading the only FDA approved research of whole plant medical cannabis treatment of veterans with treatment-resistant PTSD. Sisley recently joined The Grove as its medical director.

John Hudak is a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies and Deputy Director of the Center for

Effective Public Management at the Brookings Institution. He has written abundantly on the regulation and administration of medical marijuana. Hudak is the author of the upcoming book Marijuana: A Short History.

Nevada State Senator Patricia Farley prides herself in being a hardworking, single mom. In her first term as a senator she worked to promote and protect the interests of Nevadans through landmark legislation tackling tax, education and litigation reforms.

Eugene Monroe is currently a offensive tackle for the NFL Baltimore Ravens, and is also a member of the Gridiron Cannabis Coalition. He is the first active NFL player to advocate for the use of medical marijuana to treat sports related injuries and pains as an alternative to addictive opioids.

Nevada State Senator Tick Segerblom will be the moderator of this panel discussion. His efforts helped legalize medical marijuana in Nevada, and he currently is working to pass a recreational marijuana bill that will be on the ballot in November 2016.
