Two different types of concentrates

The Grove sells cannabis concentrates at its licensed dispensaries in Las Vegas and Pahrump. Concentrates are cannabis products processed to concentrate the plant resin and the cannabinoids and terpenes it holds into forms like live resin, rosin, wax, and shatter. Every concentrate on our shelves is lab-tested and labeled under a Nevada license.

This page explains what a cannabis concentrate is, the main types we carry, how concentrates are consumed, and how to shop them at both stores. For live stock, strains, potency, and prices, the real-time menus are always the source of truth.

What a cannabis concentrate is

A cannabis concentrate is cannabis that has been processed to concentrate the plant’s resin into a smaller, more concentrated product. Producers start with cannabis flower or trim, then use either a solvent or a solventless method to separate the resin from the plant material. The result handles very differently from flower, from a glassy shatter that snaps to a wet, sauce-like extract.

Licensed Nevada cannabis brands and cultivators produce and package them, and The Grove curates a rotating selection, each one lab tested and labeled under Nevada license. You can read how that testing works on our lab-tested cannabis page, and the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board regulates the state’s adult-use market that all of these products are sold under.

Solvent-based concentrates

Solvent-based concentrates are made by using a solvent, such as butane or carbon dioxide, to strip the resin from the plant, after which the solvent is purged from the finished extract. This category covers most of the products you will see behind the counter. The names usually describe the texture or the process rather than any measure of strength.

  • Distillate: a refined oil processed down toward a single cannabinoid, known for its clean, neutral character.
  • Shatter: a hard, glass-like sheet that snaps when it breaks.
  • Wax, and budder or badder: softer, opaque extracts whipped to a creamy or cake-batter texture.
  • Live resin: an extract made from fresh-frozen cannabis to preserve more of the plant’s original terpenes and aroma.
  • Sauce and diamonds: a two-part extract of crystalline structures, the diamonds, sitting in a terpene-rich liquid, the sauce.

Solventless concentrates

Solventless concentrates are made without any chemical solvent, using only heat, pressure, water, or fine screens to separate the resin. Some shoppers seek them out for that reason. The three you will see most often are rosin, hash, and kief.

  • Rosin: pressed from flower or hash with heat and pressure, and no solvent involved.
  • Hash: resin collected and pressed together, one of the oldest concentrate forms.
  • Kief: the loose, powdery resin glands sifted from cannabis flower.

How concentrates are consumed

Concentrates are consumed in a few common ways, and the right one depends on the product and the gear you own. Most dabbable concentrates are vaporized in a dab rig or a portable e-rig, while some shoppers add a little concentrate on top of flower in a bowl or joint. This page keeps that note short on purpose.

How concentrates fit next to vapes and other formats

Concentrates sit next to a couple of related categories, and the boundary is worth knowing. Vape cartridges and disposables also run on concentrated cannabis oil, but those live on our vapes and cartridges page rather than here. If you are weighing live resin against live rosin, our guide on the difference between live resin and live rosin covers that comparison in full. Shopping concentrates at The Grove in Las Vegas and Pahrump

You can shop cannabis concentrates at both Grove locations, in Las Vegas and in Pahrump. The Grove carries a curated selection of licensed Nevada concentrate brands. A few rules apply to every concentrate purchase in Nevada. You must be 21 or older with a valid government-issued ID, the same as any adult-use purchase, which our page on who can shop covers. Because concentrates are measured as concentrated cannabis rather than flower, Nevada sets a separate purchase limit for them that is not the same as the flower limit, so check the current figures on our Nevada purchase limits page before a large order. Every product is lab tested and labeled under Nevada license.
